  Came here to warn people about this company. I was with them for many years. They always had some of the best rates. I was accident-free for decades, no moving violations either, and then it was my turn in the universe to get t-boned. The person who hit me was also with Mercury. Based on the evidence, at first the adjuster said it was not my fault at all. Then, a few days later, they changed their minds and blamed me 100% for the accident. Based on the photographic evidence I was willing to fight the other driver and my own insurance company on that. Not knowing any better, I took the other driver to Small Claims Court. That was a mistake. I should have hired a lawyer and threatened Civil Court if we couldn't negotiate out the truth of this case, but I didn't know any lawyers, didn't have friends who know lawyers, and didn't imagine my own insurance company, to whom I'd paid many thousands of dollars over the years, would supply a free lawyer, in Small Claims, to represent the person at fault since she was their client too. I could see that I was going to get destroyed by my own insurer, so I dropped my case and took the hit on my driving record. I was not physically well at the time, and I didn't have the mental energy to go the next step and hire a lawyer, even if I had known of a good one. So Mercury took advantage of a sick person, their own client, in this matter, even though I had been a loyal customer for decades and was not at fault for the t-bone. Moral of the Story: I think you can hire a better, less sinister, less underhanded, less corrupt insurance company. Second Moral: Always hire an attorney to fight your insurance company. They don't care about you, not one bit.
